Left keyboard pad up
carefully not to break keyboard ribbon cable
exposing the heat shield.
Remove two screws in
the right side of the Versa Note. This should free
the heat shield so it can be lifted and the cpu
Once the heat shield
is removed the keyboard ribbon connector should be
exposed. Lift plastic ribbon fastener up equally
from both sides until ribbon comes out freely.
Left keyboard free
and clear of the unit being careful of keyboard
ribbon cable.

Panel Removal
Remove the two
screws securing the palm-rest cover underneath the
system base unit.
Remove the palm-rest
cover by slowly unsnapping each section of the
palm-rest cover from the base unit.
When you remove the
entire palm-rest cover, remove the cable attaching
the VersaGlide to the daughterboard inside the unit.

Keyboard Removal
Remove the four CPU
screws located on the four corners of the CPU card.
Lift gently on the
right side of the CPU card causing the card to come
loose from the notebook.

Versa Note Memory
Upgrade
Power off the system
and disconnect any peripheral devices.
Turn the system over
and locate the screw on the memory compartment.
Remove the screw and
open the memory compartment by lifting its upper
side.
Locate the alignment
notch on the module.
Locate the memory
module sockets. The system comes with one module
already installed in the socket. When installing
additional memory, use the other empty socket.
Align the notch with
the notch in the socket connector and insert the
module as follows:
Hold the SO-DIMM at
a 60-degree angle and align the SO-DIMM connector
with the socket in the system. Push the connector
into the socket.
Press down on the
edge of the SO-DIMM until the locking tabs on the
sides snap into place, securing the module.
To remove a SO-DIMM,
press the locking tabs away from the sides of the
module until the module pops up. Then, remove the
SO-DIMM.
Reassemble the NEC
Versa Note components as follows.
Replace the SO-DIMM
door back and replace the screw.

Front Panel Removal
Once the cover is
removed,the built-in hard disk secured with one
screw at the upper left corner of the hard disk.
Remove the screw and
carefully pull the hard disk module from the
connector on the daughterboard.
Remove the four
screws securing the hard disk to the bracket
connector and replace with another one.
Plug in the hard
disk module to the connector on the daughterboard
and secure the screw on the upper left corner of the
hard disk.
